Inclusion in Army Youth Sports 

Inclusive Sports

Army Child and Youth Services (CYS) ensures that children with special needs are included in the Youth Sports Program through the Multidisciplinary Inclusion Action Team (MIAT) This process provides individualized support, accommodations, and inclusion planning so that every child can safely and meaningfully participate in sports and fitness activities.

How Special Needs Children Are Included in Army Youth Sports

  • Multidisciplinary Inclusion Action Team (MIAT):
    • Families complete a SNAP form when registering a child with special needs.
    • An Inclusion Action Team (IAT) reviews the child’s needs and develops a plan to ensure safe participation.
    • This team may include coaches, medical staff, and program directors to coordinate accommodations.
